BLURB: Damon DeMasters is a vampire warrior who has taken an oath to not only protect his own kind, but humans as well. Crimson Rush is the new drug on the streets and it’s their duty to find who is behind the selling of vampire blood and stop it.As a social worker, Nicole Callahan fights for the right of every child placed in her care. There’s a war now as vampires have stepped out into the spotlight taking their place in society and the children are at the heart of it all.
Damon and his fellow warriors have been ordered by the Vampire Council to train Nicole and her colleagues against the dangers they now face in their new world. Even as sparks fly and tensions mount, Nicole and Damon depend on each other to protect the children of both races.
Shonna's review: With vampires, now exposing themselves to human existence, humans have discovered that vampire blood can be an addicting drug for them called crimson blood. To meet the growing demand, vampires, are turning children to sell their blood in the drug trade world. Saving and placing these innocent turned children is what Nicole works hard at everyday as a caring social worker. Understanding herself what it’s like to be in the foster care system, she can connect with these kids. Loyal, stubborn, and not afraid to point her finger and say exactly what she thinks, Nicole is an extremely strong woman, until the Protector, Damon DeMasters from the Vampire Council Warriors comes into her life.
From the first time he saw her his soul screamed to protect her. He knows she is meant to be his mate yet he is determined not to let it happen. A powerful, solid alpha male, Damon will not let history repeat itself and chance losing his heart and someone he cares about. Walking away is what he feels is best, but can he do it?
I liked the plot, humor, action, and emotions from the author. I would have liked to learn a bit more about the vampires, and Damon’s past, but still very much enjoyed the book.
