Now, called home for a black ops mission, Forest must put aside her own prejudice to transport the vampire prince, Syrus, through enemy territory in a time of war.
Prince Syrus, mage and master of the Blood Kata, wants Forest more than he's ever wanted anything. In spite of their mutual mistrust, their attraction cannot be denied. Through the danger of their mission, and the secrets they both keep, it doesn't matter what they feel. Forest is forbidden.

LaTonia's REVIEW: Poor Forest is how I would start this review. She’s very strong, but  has no real chance in life being raised by only her shifter mother and shunned by her Elf father and labeled a dirty Halfling.  She's fought hard for the little station she had in life, and was happy with her job of guarding the portal between worlds. Her main job was to stop Vamps from crossing over and getting addicted to human blood. It is worse than crack for them. Kendel, one of Forest's only friends, helps her get a job/mission to help a Vampire prince gain the throne. Without Kendel as her friend, Forest wouldn’t have any rank at all to acquire a job like this. So Forest goes for the mission even though she hates vampires and loves killing them. That is until she meets Syrus.
Syrus was spoiled and addicted to human blood when someone is hired to kill him. The assassin takes his sight instead of his life after seeing the future and knows that Syrus will be able to accomplish much more in life if he changed his ways.
What I really liked about this book was, yes, he was strong but he didn’t mind her saving him or showing his need for her.  Being destined mates was really cool. They had to look into each others eyes and all the bonds would connect. But how can that happen when one of them is blind?

RATING: 4.5
